Water Activities in Curaçao: Your Guide to Snorkeling, Jet Skiing & More

Between coral reefs, sunken wrecks, and flat, wind-protected bays on the south coast, this island was practically built for getting in the water, or on top of it.

Snorkeling

Curaçao's calm, clear bays make it one of the easiest islands in the Caribbean to snorkel well, and there is a real range of ways to do it: from a quick swim off a beach to a full day on a catamaran. Best for first-timers

Something different

Dolphin Academy's Dolphin Snorkel ($210 p.p.) lets small groups free-dive alongside bottlenose dolphins in their lagoon, and Tugboat Beach's Sublue Ocean Fun underwater scooter ($70–$120 p.p.) covers the Tugboat wreck at speed, for riders 16 and up.

Jet Skiing

If snorkeling is the slow way to see the coast, jet skiing is the fast one. SUP Paddle Boarding and Canoeing

For a slower pace, head to Spanish Water. SUP Curacao's SUP Spanish Water Mangrove Tour (from $65 p.p., 2 hours) paddles the lagoon's mangrove channels past villas and the Tafelberg, with a guide, a snack break, and free photos included. It departs Surfspot Curaçao, and the water is flat enough for genuine beginners. At Tugboat Beach, the Clear Canoe Tour ($60 p.p., 1.5 hours) puts you in a see-through canoe over the Tugboat Shipwreck and past Fort Beekenburg, with a beach chair included after. Windsurfing and Wingfoiling

Curaçao's steady trade winds and shallow, sheltered bays make it a genuinely good place to learn either sport, not just watch other people do it. SUP Curacao's Windsurf Lesson ($68 p.p., 1.5 hours, age 12+) uses wide, stable boards and lightweight sails in a wave-free lagoon, with instructors adjusting to your progress. Their Wingfoil Private or Duo Lesson (private $158, duo $129, age 10+) starts with wing control before progressing to foiling. Fishing Charters

Curaçao's deep water sits close to shore, which is why Fish Charter Curacao, departing from Kima Kalki Marina, can offer everything from a shared morning trip to a full day chasing marlin.

Each additional person beyond six is $75 extra, up to a maximum of ten, and a fuel surcharge applies on top of the boat price. Practical tips before you book:

• Minimum ages vary widely by activity, from 6 for some family tours to 16 for jet skiing and Seabob rides, so check before you book if you're traveling with kids.
• Most operators offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure, but not inside that window, so keep an eye on the weather forecast.
• Water shoes make a real difference on rocky entries, coral, and mangrove mud.
• A waterproof phone pouch means you can actually capture the moment instead of just describing it later.
• Reef-safe sunscreen is worth seeking out specifically. Regular sunscreen is hard on the coral we're all there to see.

What to Pack

A few things we always bring along on watersports days: water shoes, reef-safe SPF, a waterproof phone case, a wide-brim sun hat for the boat, a small waterproof bag for anything that needs to stay dry, a reusable water bottle, and some after-sun for the evening.
